Department of Microbiology

Department of Microbiology came into existence on initiative late President of Nagpur Shinshan Mandal Mr. A. K. Gandhi in 2021. Currently department is working under supervision of Principal Dr. Jeevan Dontulwar and Vice Principal and In-charge of Department Dr. Rina S. Saha. Department have two faculties actively involved in teaching at undergraduate level. The department has one well-equipped laboratories with ICT facility.

The department has well construct laboratory with all the basic equipment required for performing practical in standard way. Good number latest books to students required for study regarding subject. The staff employ ICT tools for enhancing the receptivity of the students. Learning management systems, like Google classroom, lecture series, by eminent teachers and researcher brought to use for the students’ benefit. Also students are engaged in industrial learning and co-curricular activity. All this activity helps students to understand the importance of microbiology in various field  like Bacteriology, Mycology, Protozoology, Phycology, Parasitology, Immunology, Virology, Nematology, Microbial cytology, Microbial physiology, microbial metabolism and microbial cell structure, Microbial pathogenesis, Microbial ecology, Microbial genetics, Cellular microbiology, Evolutionary microbiology, Microbial taxonomy, Bacterial taxonomy, Microbial systematics, Microbial phylogenetics, Bacterial phylodynamics, Viral phylodynamics, Generation microbiology, Systems microbiology, Molecular microbiology, Astro microbiology, Biological agent, Nano microbiology, Microbial ecology, Geomicrobiology, Microbial diversity, Bioremediation, Water microbiology, Aeromicrobiology, Biotechnology.  Microbiologists work in many different job areas, in a variety of different job roles. students can make careers in research and non-research fields.

The department offers microbiology as one of the subjects in combination with botany, chemistry and zoology in a three subject pattern at the level of under graduation.

Department of Microbiology has an active society, which is established every year with new student office bearers. Under the aegis of the microbiology society, various programmes such as Science Day Celebration, guest lectures, etc. are organized. Various competitions like, poster competitions, oral presentations, quiz, etc are organized.
