Department of Chemistry
Department of Chemistry established in 1949 and it is one of the oldest departments at the undergraduate level in the university. Dr. G. M. Deshpande was the first head of the department and subsequently it was headed by Shri M. V. Bobde, Shri S. B. Basu, Shri M. A. Shende, Shri W. D. Chopde, Shri V. M. Tak, Dr. (Mrs) P. S. Jodh, Dr. G. J. Thakur, Mrs. G. N. Tumbde, Dr. I. M. Sarin. At present, Prof. M. G. Dhonde is heading this department. There are nine regular faculties and six faculties are on fixed pay.
This department also provides instructions at the +2 level. The staff members are Ms. T. N. Tekade, Dr. M. A. Jamdarkar, Mr. K. S. Wandhe and three faculties on fixed pay basis.
This department has two very spacious laboratories, one for junior college and other for senior college and two comparatively smaller laboratories for PG – which is a Instrumentatition Laboratory, organic synthesis laboratory. The department is very well equipped with a variety of instruments like conductometer, pH –Meter, Digital Colorimeter, Digital UV Spectrophotometer (PC Based), Digital Spectrophotometer, refractometer, Balance Digital (MAB-220) & (PCB-200)
Rotary Evaporator, Aspirator- water Jet Vacuum Pump, Rota mental with Magnetic stirrer (1MLH)
Rota mental with Magnetic stirrer (2MLH), Hot Plate with Magnetic stirrer (1MLH), Hot Plate with Magnetic stirrer (2MLH), RO- Distilled water Plant, Centrifuge, ORP Meter, Flame Photometer, Digital Microwave Oven for organic synthesis, Digital Melting Point Apparatus, etc.
