National Science Day

28 February is celebrated as the National Science Day in India every year. Indian Scientist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, on 28 February 1928, discovered and reported a phenomenon of scattering of photons. To honour his work, this phenomenon is being referred to as the ‘Raman Effect’. In 1930, he was awarded the most prestigious award, the ‘Nobel Prize’ for this remarkable discovery. It was the first Nobel Prize for India in the field of Science. To mark the discovery of ‘Raman Effect’, India celebrates the National Science Day every year on 28 February.

The college also celebrates this day each year by organizing various programmes at various levels. Most of the times, the programmes are organized following the theme declared by the Indian government each year.
