The management, Nagpur Shikshan Mandal, which runs this college, has a basic aim to provide knowledge and uplift even the last student who has secured admission in this college. The college also aims to provide education in the basic sciences and further enhance the physical, economic and intellectual wellbeing of students.
The policies and programmes set by the college are aimed at the development of each member of the college, and thus the college supports and encourages the teaching and even the non-teaching and staff to pursue the higher education. As a result of which some of the junior college staff members as well as a member of the non-teaching staff have acquired a higher qualification of Ph.D. The college has a policy to encourage the staff members to present research papers, participate in conferences, etc. who are going abroad or even out of station.
The college conducts a one-week short term certificate ‘Multi Skill Development Programme’ on various topics like mushroom cultivation, noise pollution, water and soil analysis, groundwater prospecting, printed circuit board design and computer fundamentals, functional English, introduction to women’s reproductive health and hygiene, legal awareness, etc. for newly admitted students.
In order to attain academic and administrative excellence the college regularly conducts academic, administrative and financial audits. This has helped this college get ISO certification ‘ISO 9001:2015’. This college is one of the very few colleges in this region to have been awarded ISO certification ‘ISO 9001:2015’.
To inculcate human values, service and sensitivity towards community, environmental consciousness, and the values of citizenship, the college regularly conducts various programmes. By organizing events on themes of national integration, we raise awareness about heritage and history.
A well-developed botanical garden with a special emphasis on medicinal plants is very useful to the students. These plants are studied by the students in regard to their properties and medicinal components. Students also work on these plants as part of their post-graduation research projects.
Celebration of Rakshabandhan at ‘Panchavati Vriddhashram’ (an old-age home). The said practice is conducted by the college under the aegis of the ‘Lifelong Learning Extension Unit’ of the college. Many students and the coordinator visit it on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and tie the thread of love to the old members of the ‘vriddhashram’. The teaching staff and students voluntarily donate fruits and grains to the residents of the old-age home. This event develops social feelings and empathy among the students.
